This company is the largest edible oil refiner and packer in Mombasa, they have just built a new factory in Kikambala some 30kms from Mombasa. They called on Civicon to transport and install the 3 Distillation Columns and the Splitter Column. The 3 Distillation Columns were lifted in using our 82ton Linkbelt lattice boom crane. The Splitter Column was a much more complex lift as the piece weighed 42 tons and was 42 metres high. Civicon devised a gantry and electric chain hoist system to lift in this column as there were no cranes in Kenya big enough for this lift. All 4 columns were safely transported and erected on schedule. The Distillation Columns of 15 to 21 metres in length were transported on our regular low loaders. The 42 metre Splitter Column was transported on our especially designed steered bogey. left]

KENYA BREWERIES - TRANSPORT OF COMPLETE BOTTLING LINE
Project duration: September 2000- May 2001
Projet value: $196,000
Civicon was given the daunting task of transporting the new bottling line from Mombasa to Ruaraka, the individual pieces were massive; many were 5.4 metres wide, some were 4.5 metres high. The total quantity of equipment transported was over 2,500 cbm. Civicon was called in at the planning stage and their knowledge gained in numerous other projects for Kenya Breweries was incorporated into the planning. A delivery schedule was drawn up based around shipping dates and Mondays. Each shipment was discharged from the ships, loaded onto the fleet of low-loaders, and either held in Mombasa or dispatched to Nairobi, depending on the schedule. Outer Ring Road in Nairobi was always traversed on Sunday to minimize disruption to traffic. Every load arrived on its designated day. Civicon also supplied all craneage, two in Ruaraka and one in Mombasa. A truly turnkey transport project.KENYA BREWERIES - TRANSPORT OF COMPLETE BOTTLING LINE
