LOADING AND OFFLOADING OF 40MVA TRANSFORMER
Client: Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited
This project was to reposition a 60MT 40MVA power transformer within Kampala North substation, Kampala, Uganda.
The transformer was jacked up from the ground using timbers and 8 x 30MT jacks to a height of 1.3 metres, then was pulled 6 metres horizontally onto a loloader using Tifors and chainblocks. The loloader was then repositioned near to the new plinth in the substation. The transformer was lifted using 2 x 50MT cranes and placed on horizontal rails 2.2 metres above the road. It was then pulled 10 metres horizontally into its final position, and was lowered to the ground again using jacks.
